For students a connection to industry, an understanding of it (gained through meaningful interactions and collaborations) and a sense of belonging are the absolute cornerstones of successful, practical education. For anyone who knows me this will come as no surprise. I developed and deliver a course, The Working Photographer which functions in this way. Working with Industry Partners & Industry Contributors, students acquire knowledge, skills and confidence.
The Working Photographer Instagram page began as way of showing and sharing my students work, it's worked well. During and post-covid it gave students a place show their work, a place to connect with others in our industry, from other photographers to stylists and even clients. I've decided it's time to open it up to a much wider community. We are now a platform to showcase the work of students, assistants & emerging photographers working any area of commercial photography. Test shoots, mock ups, portfolio shoots and of course real jobs, commissions or assignments can all be submitted.
Please use the 'invite collaborator' option when tagging to submit your work. We will review it as quickly as possible. If you are not successful we will let you know and give some feedback.
Please include information about you and the images. Please ensure you tag or mention any participants or collaborator, most commercial work is team work.
