Great to be featured in the latest edition of "Talking Pictures" by Dr. Alasdair Foster - a full-circle moment in my artistic journey that feels particularly meaningful.
My first group exhibition "Inheritance" at the Australian Centre for Photography was curated Malcom Smith, at the invitation of Alasdair, marking the beginning of what would become a transformative mentorship. This early support led to exhibitions in South Korea and the Pingyao International Photography Festival (2010), culminating in my solo show "Myth, Memory and the 1/4 Acre Block" at ACP.
Alasdair's keen insight and deep understanding of photography have influenced countless artists globally. His "Talking Pictures" platform continues this legacy, offering profound conversations with photographers worldwide, exploring the intersections of culture, memory, and visual storytelling.
In our interview, we discuss the evolution of my practice from narrative tableaux to my current work combining traditional Chinese shanshui philosophy with digital aesthetics. Alasdair's thoughtful questions drew out connections I hadn't previously articulated, showcasing his remarkable ability to illuminate the deeper currents in an artist's work.
