Whenever I view my work, Philip Glass's "Temple of The Golden Pavilion - Mishima"…
Whenever I view my work, Philip Glass's "Temple of The Golden Pavilion - Mishima" soundtrack inevitably resonates in my mind. My numerous visits to Japan have allowed me to capture several images of the Golden Pavilion, yet none have quite hit the mark until now. This is the first photograph that I believe comes close to fulfilling my vision of creating something that challenges the obvious. It's an image that retreats into the background, capturing something delicate and almost ethereal, on the verge of disappearing.
Now I have acknowledge this image translates poorly to the screen, you need to see the print, fall into the shadows.
Philip Glass's piece for "The Temple of the Golden Pavilion" in the "Mishima" soundtrack is classic Glass – minimalistic, mesmerizing, and deeply moving. It's like he captures the whole vibe of the Golden Pavilion in this track, with those repetitive beats and rhythms he's famous for. The music is kind of meditative, really drawing you in, and it does a fantastic job of echoing the themes in Mishima's story – beauty, the fleeting nature of life, all that deep stuff. It's a great example of how Glass can tell a whole story just through his music, without needing any words.
